So we are currently at 37 weeks. Sprout could come any day now. We still haven't decided on a name yet. Despite our attempts at settling this matter, the list we have continues to grow. I think that when we see him we will have a better idea of what we will call him.
My belly button has finally popped about a week ago. I am just waiting for it to activate. We have had the 20 week ultrasound, which showed a 2 vessel umbilical cord, then an ultrasound in Nevada at Burning Man where he was Frank Breech. We found this amusing to no end. His little feet were over his head, and he was very active.
Since the anatomy scan ultrasound at 20 weeks showed a 2 vessel cord, my doctor ordered another scan at 32-34 weeks. We did it at 33 weeks and she said everything still looks great. Amniotic fluid is fine, and his size was about 5lbs. 1oz (I hear these estimations can be off by more than a pound.)
I am currently in the weekly office visit stage, where the monotony just makes me anxious. I have been progressing as I should. It seems my body actually knows what to do. It's always a relief to hear that things are going well. I am, as my Dr. said at the appointment,"1 Cm dilated and thinned." I was assured this is appropriate progress, and she is optimistic that I won't make it past my due date. Now it is just a waiting game. Tick Tick Tick.

progress

At 17 weeks, I have finally gotten over most of the "morning sickness" and have been able to eat. I have found that I do have issues every once in a while with food, but things are much smoother now. I have gained about 3 lbs. I expressed to the doctor that I was concerned about my lack of weight gain, but she said that I shouldn't even worry about weight gain until after 24 weeks. This is when the baby starts to grow a lot. She says the baby is only about 1/2 pound right now.
She has also explained a lot about the genetic screening, ultrasound, and birthing today. Cullen and I both had questions and concerns about these topics, but all were reasonably answered and addressed at this appointment. I am really liking my doctor, and getting much more comfortable with her.
Sound asleep Yesterday morning, I was awakened from my slumber by the overly strong odor of frying foods. The smell made me pop out of bed, throw on a robe, and investigate. The whole time, thoughts of fried tater tots bounced behind my eyes. Yum tater tots.
Bumbling in my 1/2 sleep state, I stumbled across one of my roommates plopping a heaping plate full of popcorn chicken on the table. It was no tater tots, but quite tasty. I snatched a few juicy morsels before rushing back to bed, tired and satiated.
Sprout begins

It appears that people enjoy hearing about the progress and strange occurrences surrounding the small fetus we are now calling "Sprout." Since we can't call everyone every day, nor can we remember to tell everyone all the fun stories, I have decided that it might be nice to start a blog for everyone to keep track of the progress if they like. This way I will also not be forcing information on people who are sick of hearing about Sprout of the various adventures surrounding the formation and growth of said Sprout.
The image included here was the 1st ultrasound taken at 8 weeks.
Let the excitement begin.
