Ivan is growing like a Weed, as so many people like to say. He has been walking since 10 1/2 months and is running now. He has managed to scratch and bruise himself pretty significantly in the past few weeks. He falls, explores, and romps regularly now. He used to be overly cautious, testing everything before pushing those limits too far... used to.
Today, Ivan decided to experiment with gravity and ramps. We are in the process of purchasing a home, and were over for a visit to said home while the previous owners were moving the last bits out of the house. The brought a moving van, with a fun metal ramp. Ivan discovered that the ramp was really fun to crawl up. He proceeded to do so twice, with mommy removing him both times. He waited just long enough for mommy to get out of arms reach, then went running toward the ramp. He started a good hard run up the ramp, which ended with a good hard fall, onto the ramp. The resulting damage wasn't immediately obvious. Ivan had bit through his lip, a little trickle of blood. He cried a little longer than the typical minute, so I knew something hurt... but by the time I decided to panic about the blood, when I noticed it was on the outside as well as the inside, Ivan was over it. He wasn't even bothered when Grandma Rohan cleaned it up. So much for panic-mode mom...
Ivan can:
*climb a ladder without assistance
*pick a cup up, drink from it, and set it down without spilling too much (depending on the fullness of the cup)
*eat with a fork
*help mommy put things "back"
and many many other things. His vocabulary is expanding so quickly I can barely keep up.
Ivan is Such an amazing little man.
If you remember, Ivan's Uncle Josh did the exact same thing to his own lip, just at an older age. He's got the pain tolerance of his Uncle Brian, it seems, if he quit crying that fast. He's a beautifully wonderful little boy! I'm so proud of him! Love-love to all of y'all.
